Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is one of Tanzania's most beautiful safari destination, located 139 kilometers southwest of Arusha (about 2-hour drive from Arusha). It's famous for its massive elephant herds and iconic, ancient baobab trees. It is a standout destination for dry-season wildlife viewing with fewer crowds than some of Tanzania's more famous parks.

Best Time to Visit

June to October (dry season): Best wildlife viewing. Animals gather around the Tarangire River, creating spectacular game-viewing opportunities.

November to May (green season): Lush scenery, migratory birds, and fewer visitors.

Why It Is Special

Unlike the busier Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Tarangire offers a quieter safari experience while still providing outstanding wildlife encounters. Many visitors consider it one of Tanzania's hidden gems.
